Speaker: Mottel Zirkind, Technology Sandbox Volunteer

Mottel is interested in bots because he likes making silly things that end up teaching people while they laugh.

Have you heard of Twitter? Have you ever seen what happens when an AI tries to speak human? We can combine those two!

In the Twitter Bot workshop, you’ll go from knowing nothing about programming to knowing how to access Twitter’s API, what an API is, how to use packages to make cool programs fast, what packages are, and so much more. By the end of the workshop you should have code that generates ‘natural’ sounding tweets in the style of your choosing. The skills learned in this workshop could easily be extended to platforms other than Twitter. This workshop is for people at any level of programming skill.

Please have the twitter handle that you want your bot to tweet from available for the workshop. If you don’t have one, sign up to twitter here. A laptop is also required, bring your own or sign one out from the Webster Loans and Ciruclation desk.

Open to everyone. 120 minutes.
