3D Printer Basics – Custom Support

3D Printer Basics – Custom Support

Last week, we discovered support and their uses. Now to add to this, there is an option in Prusa Slicer (and other slicers as well) to create custom support. If you’ve printed before at the Sandbox, you know we have a “Enable Support” checkbox that does it all for you. Sometimes the automatic process over-estimates and adds too much support. Since support are not something I enjoy doing, I figured we’d cover custom supports. These custom supports are called Support Enforcers in Prusa Slicers. It allows you to manually select where you want support and avoid other areas where you know you printer can gap your overhang. It can be really useful to reduce print time, material and overall simplifying support removal by adding some only where you need it.
